HELLO AGAIN, Christian

Here are some recent projects you might find interesting, which have some parallels to the work you're doing at Ritz-Carlton - including our recent work with the W Hotel.

Akira Back

Marriott approached us to create a design scheme that was every bit as progressive and innovative as W Hotel – the hotel it would sit within – and Akira Back – the world-renowned chef – who’s bold, adrenaline-fueled take on Japanese and Korean fusion flavours would be served up there. The result was a restaurant with a mind-bending entrance, a bar with chopsticks dramatically piercing through the ceiling and a theatrical open kitchen adorned with stunning shimmering artwork by Akira’s late mother. Not surprising then that the restaurant has become one of the most Instagrammed in Dubai.

SoBe

The only rooftop bar on the Palm Jumeirah with 360 degree views of Dubai and the place to enjoy an unobstructed view of the Dubai sunset.  With fairy light encased palm trees dotted between the seating, and candles adorning every table, SoBe Rooftop has created the ultimate setting to take in the sunset over drinks with friends. Step inside to the adults' only playground, flanked by art deco and street art of South Beach Miami with vibrant decor and floor to ceiling windows offering another opportunity to look over the skyline. A neon ceiling light shines a purple hue over the centre of the restaurant, located directly above a large sofa that's decorated with metallic cushions reflecting the light throughout the restaurant. Dive into delicious Chino-Latino food and drinks as you soak up the vibe. SoBe invites you to blend in or stand out - come as you are.

W The Palm's Lobby Lounge

Following on from the success and popularity of the Keane designed Akira Back and SoBe restaurants, W The Palm management requested that we redesign their lobby lounge. W Hotels are renowned for differing from traditional hotels by replacing the lobby with the "living room" concept, where guests could gather at the bar. However W The Palm was operating as a traditional lobby. By opening up the vistas, creating a much more obvious and clear connection with the bar and celebrating the height of the lounge with a ceiling feature, we were able to reconnect W The Palm's Lobby Lounge with the original purpose identified as a brand feature.

Nonya

Taj Hotel, the first luxury hotel in Dubai’s Jumeirah Lake Towers (JLT), aimed to become the district’s business and social heartbeat, so we set about identifying a gastronomic gap and found the answer in authentic South East Asian cuisine - the largely new flavours of Singapore and Malaysia. The design concept for Nonya blends traditional ornamental elements with contemporary vibrancy to authentically capture the spirit of Peranakan culture, which is also reflected in the name – derived from 'Baba-Nyonya’.

Paros

Complementing the uniqueness of Nonya, Taj JLT asked us to create an All Day Diner on the 46th floor of the hotel that transitioned into a nigh time destination. Inspired by the Greek Island that sits in the heart of the Aegean Sea, Paros is the only rooftop pool, bar, and restaurant in JLT and offers a sanctuary that goes from dawn to dusk. Whether you're in the mood for a chill evening with friends or you're looking for a buzzing poolside party, you’re guaranteed to find exactly what you’re looking for at Paros Dubai - the place to be seen in JLT.

Tàn Chá

Completely reimagining spaces has always been a passion of ours. So when the owners of Dubai’s JW Marriott Marquis Hotel asked us to transform their existing GQ bar into a high-end Chinese restaurant and late-night lounge, we couldn’t possibly resist. Even more enticing to our creatives was the fact the owners wanted to steer clear from stereotypical Chinese fine dining and instead create a dynamic space reminiscent of the streets of downtown Hong Kong.

Gold on 27

Jumeirah approached us to design a new upscale lounge bar. They were soon to be converting two existing conference rooms on the 27th floor of the iconic Burj Al Arab hotel into one dedicated social, lounge destination. And they needed a design that would be every bit luxurious and exclusive as the seven-star hotel itself. The answer? Gold. Lots of it. Gold on 27, as the name suggests, was designed to be opulent and sophisticated. Celebrating the essence of the precious metal – while offering enthralling views towards the marina area of Dubai and beyond.
