Birmingham’s independent food scene is full of brilliant people doing brilliant things – from street food traders and neighbourhood cafés to bakeries, bars, restaurants and hidden gems.

But we know that for many independent brands, finding the time, budget or support to invest in design can be difficult. That’s where Made In Brum comes in. We’re offering one Birmingham-based independent food or beverage brand the opportunity to receive a free creative refresh from an experienced F&B design team.

What is ‘Made in Brum’?

Made in Brum is a creative initiative designed to support and celebrate Birmingham’s independent food and drink community. The selected brand will work with our design team to develop a package of creative support that could include branding, logo refinement, menu design, social media assets, photography direction and other essential tools to help their brand look as good as their food tastes. This is not a competition based on who has the biggest following or the most polished business. We’re looking for a brand with passion, personality, potential and a great story to tell.

Why are we doing this?

For the past 30 years, Keane has helped shape brands within the food and beverage industry, working with businesses of all sizes to create meaningful, effective design. As we celebrate that milestone, Made in Brum is an opportunity to give something back to the city and industry that continue to inspire us. Birmingham has one of the most exciting independent food scenes in the UK, and we believe local businesses deserve access to high-quality creative thinking – even when agency support might usually feel out of reach. This initiative is about championing independent brands, supporting local talent, and showing the impact thoughtful design can have when it’s used to help businesses grow.

What could you win?

The aim is to create practical, useful and beautiful assets that the business can continue to use beyond the project. The final package will be shaped around the needs of the chosen business, but could include: 

1. Logo & Identity Refinement 
2. Menu Design 
3. Social Media Guidance 
4. Photography & Art Direction.

Who can apply?

We’re looking for independent food and drink businesses based in Birmingham or the surrounding area – whether that’s a café, bakery, restaurant, takeaway, street food trader, bar or market stall.  More than anything, we want to hear from brands with great food, strong personality, local passion and a story worth telling. You don’t need to have a perfect brand already – in fact, Made in Brum is designed for businesses that could benefit from creative support and are ready for their next chapter..
