CHALLENGE
Tower Cinemas wanted to create more than a cinema. As part of the wider regeneration of Blackpool's Houndshill Centre, the ambition was to develop a landmark entertainment destination that would attract both locals and visitors while redefining the role of cinema within modern leisure.

The future of entertainment isn't built around a single activity.  It's built around multi-faceted experiences people want to spend time in. Inspired by Blackpool's rich heritage of spectacle and social connection, we created a multi-layered destination that combined cinema, dining, gaming, events and community experiences under one roof, encouraging guests to stay longer and engage more deeply with the venue.

OUTCOME
Today, The Backlot Cinema & Diner stands as one of Blackpool’s  most significant leisure attractions, successfully transforming a traditional cinema into a multi-faceted entertainment destination. Its success ultimately led to its acquisition by national operator  Arc Cinemas, securing the long-term future of the concept.
